About UNITAR Gender Empowerment Now! – Women, Peace and Security Cycle

The UNITAR Gender Empowerment Now! Training Programme – Cycle 6 supports NGO representatives and independent activists in the Middle East and North Africa to strengthen skills in gender equality, women’s empowerment, and peacebuilding. Selected participants will design and facilitate community workshops, develop training materials, and gain practical tools to advance gender mainstreaming within their organizations and local communities.

Benefits of UNITAR Gender Empowerment Now! – Women, Peace and Security Cycle

Each participant will:

  • Organize and facilitate an in-person workshop for 15–20 individuals in their country

  • Receive logistical support from national partner NGOs

  • Prepare a workshop report, including photos, participant testimonies, and key insights

  • Receive financial support to implement the community workshop

UNITAR Gender Empowerment Now! – Women, Peace and Security Cycle Requirements

Applicants must

  • Be 28–45 years old
  • Be fluent in Arabic (spoken and written)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of gender equality or gender mainstreaming
  • Be affiliated with the same organization for at least two years
  • Hold a role relevant to programme implementation, policy, advocacy or capacity-building
  • Have experience or strong potential in training, facilitation or knowledge-sharing
  • Be in a position to apply gender mainstreaming within their organization and train others
  • Be fully available to participate in all online sessions and subsequent activities
  • Be affiliated with a women’s rights organization or an organization where women’s and girls’ rights are a core area of work (preferred)

Selected participants must also secure a letter of support from their organization or a local partner confirming its willingness to host the community workshop.
