Opportunity Details
The Zukunftskolleg Konnect Fellowships 2026 are designed to support early career researchers from Africa, Asia, and Latin America by connecting them with the University of Konstanz in Germany.
Monthly stipend:
€1,300 for doctoral students
€2,000 for postdocs
Travel expenses for one economy-class trip to Konstanz.
Access to library, IT, and research support services.
Up to €750 research allowance (on request).
Digital affiliation extending fellowship to 12 months, supported with €900 lump sum.
German language course (online/on-site).
Career Kit Plus: weekly seminars/workshops on academic writing, funding, career perspectives, etc.
“Fellows go Local” program to help adjust to the region.
Research return visit by a Konstanz member to fellow’s home institution (on request).
Must be born and working in Latin America, Asia, or Africa.
Either:
Doctoral student in the final year, or
Postdoctoral researcher with a doctorate completed after 15 February 2024 (max. 2 years).
Doctorate must be from a university in Latin America, Asia, or Africa.
Cannot hold a permanent professorship or habilitation.
Research project must align with one of the 13 departments at Konstanz.
Two tracks:
Track A: Collaborate with a Konstanz researcher.
Track N: Nomination by a Konstanz (junior) professor.

• A letter of motivation (including your objectives for the research stay at the Zukunftskolleg and an explanation of how your research ties in with the research landscape at the University of Konstanz - maximum 2 pages)
• Short summary of your current research project and outlook on your project at the Zukunftskolleg (together maximum 3 pages incl. references)
• A detailed work and time plan for your on-campus research stay
• Your curriculum vitae
• Relevant certificates (doctoral certificate OR a letter from your doctoral supervisor confirming the status of your doctoral thesis)
• Track A: One academic letter of reference, on official letterhead paper and signed by the respective reviewer
Track N: Nomination Letter by Konstanz (junior) professor will be sent directly to the Zukunftskolleg
Other additional certificates and documents uploaded to the application platform will not be considered and will manually be removed during the eligibility check.
