The University of Melbourne annually offers scholarships and grants for national and international students, including the University of  Melbourne Student Grants. These grants are over 150 bursaries allocated by varying generous gifts and donations to support students in poor financial conditions. The total amount starts from $1,000 – $10,000 Grants for the academic year 2024.

If you are an Australian domestic or international student studying at the University of  Melbourne in 2024, apply immediately! This single-time payment opportunity is available for all study areas. To be eligible for these scholarships, students should provide enrolment evidence at the University of Melbourne and have an academic status of Good Standing. They should provide proof of financial need, too. The selection committee will select the eligible students based on financial need.

University of Melbourne Student Grants for National and International Students Requirments

To be considered for these bursaries, you must:

  • be enrolled in a course at the University of Melbourne; students undertaking a single subject or a non-award course (e.g. study abroad or exchange) are not eligible
  • have an academic status of Good Standing

Eligible students are selected on the basis of financial need.

Application Date and Process

Applications are accepted in two rounds:

  • Round 1: Opens 1 January - closes 10 March
  • Round 2: Opens 1 May- closes on 4 August

Submit an online Student Financial Assessment form in the relevant round by the closing date.

The application form will only be available to access when the round is open.

When will I know the outcome?

Successful applicants for Round 1 will be notified of the outcome of their application via email in early April, and Round 2 outcomes will be communicated in late August.
