About Varghese Summersett Autism Scholarship
Varghese Summersett PLLC, an organization made up of board-certified criminal defense attorneys, offers the scholarship. They do so to recognize and honor the children of two Varghese Summersett criminal attorneys whose children have disabilities. Winning applicants will receive $500 to go towards camp, tutoring, education, or something else of their choice. If you are the parent, friend, or teacher of a student with autism and want to help them with educational expenses, we encourage you to apply!

Applicants must be (1) under the age of 15 and (2) on the autism spectrum.
Application Date and Process
- Letter or Video Describing Financial Need: Have a parent, friend, relative, or teacher must prepare a letter or video describing how the financial award would benefit them. We are specifically looking for what the award will be used for. We know the overall needs are far greater than the award, so the more specific you can be about how this would benefit the child, the more helpful this item will be.
- Recommendation Letter or Video: Get one letter (or video) of recommendation. The letter can be from a teacher, employer, friend, sibling, or community leader. They should attest to the applicant’s character, ability, and need for financial aid for educational or recreational opportunities. For example, a grandmother could write a letter on behalf of her autistic granddaughter who could benefit from an iPad or a summer camp. Any videos are judged on the content, not production quality. Videos may not exceed 5 minutes.
- Photo: Applicants must submit a photo of the student and agree to allow Varghese Summersett PLLC to use his/her name, photo, video, letter, and/or story on our website.
