Wiki Loves Earth is an international photography competition to promote natural heritage sites around the World through Wikimedia projects (mainly Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons). This is the fifth time Nigeria will be participating in the contest and it would be held during 1 June — 31 July 2025. In the first edition and second edition, over 1000 quality images were uploaded by participants in Nigeria. Everyone is welcome to get involved, whether as a participant (photographer), organizational volunteer, or both. Join us to contribute free-licensed images of natural heritages in Nigeria

Other categories:
- Prizes will be awarded to the best 2 images from each particpating fan clubs and hubs
- Prizes will be awarded to the highest number of contributions from each of the participated fan clubs and hubs
- Top 10 contributors (by the number of photographs) will be rewarded with the WLE T-shirt
Wiki Loves Earth 2025 in Nigeria Requirements
- All entries must be your own work; do not manipulate original images and make sure that there is no visible watermarks.
- All photos must be uploaded within June 1st to July 31st, 2025
- All photos must be licensed under CC BY-SA license
- Participants must have an active email account, if the organizers wish to contact
- Captions and description are required
- Do not forget to add categories to your picture as it will be helpful to everyone looking for your picture
- Make sure that you are not uploading duplicate images
Application Date and Process
The jury will determine the winners of the local and international contest taking into the consideration the following criteria (in no particular order):
- Technical quality (sharpness, use of light, perspective etc.);
- Originality;
- Usefulness of the image for Wikipedia.
Images that reach a top ranking of the international finale, will typically at least fulfill the technical critieria of the Featured Image process at Wikimedia Commons. But feel free to submit images, and let the jury be concerned if they are good enough.
