The AAAS-TWAS Science Diplomacy training program was established in 2014 to expose scientists, decisionmakers, diplomats and other interested stakeholders and institutions to science diplomacy concepts, explore key contemporary international policy issues relating to science, technology, environment and health, and build a skillset to allow for careers at the intersection of science and diplomacy
Organizers cover expenses (transportation, accommodation, visa fees, meals, incidentals) for selected pairs.
Limited slots for self-supported participants (mainly from high-income countries). They cover their own costs except meals and local transport in Trieste.
Applications must be submitted as participant pairs:
Participant 1: Early-Career Scientist (PhD, preferably ≤40 years old, with research relevant to international policymaking).
Participant 2: Decisionmaker (government official, policymaker, diplomat, civil servant, funding institution representative, or staff/expert in an international organization). No age or PhD requirement.
