The Architectural Heritage Fund’s programmes in Northern Ireland offer meaningful opportunities for community organisations that wish to revive historic buildings and give them new purpose.
Project Viability Grant and Village Catalyst Project Viability Grant: Up to £10,000 to assess feasibility, condition, and potential new uses of buildings.
Project Development Grant: Up to £20,000 for detailed planning, design, and preparation for capital investment.
Not-for-private-profit organisations, including:
Charitable Incorporated Organisations
Charitable Companies Limited by Guarantee
Community Interest Companies (limited by guarantee)
Parish and Town Councils
Independent secular groups aiming to repurpose places of worship for community use
Private individuals
Local authorities (except Parish and Town Councils)
Universities and mainstream educational institutions
For-profit companies (unless partnered with a not-for-profit lead)
Unincorporated groups not planning to incorporate
Churches continuing regular worship as primary use
