The Brookings Internship Program 2026 offers degree-seeking students a valuable experience to explore and develop their careers while acquiring new skills. These Brookings Institution paid internships aim to provide students with a pre-professional, significant, and hands-on work experience directly connected to their academic field or career aspirations. The international internship for students offers an excellent opportunity to learn and grow. Brookings offers paid internship opportunities to approximately 150 degree-seeking students and graduates yearly, with cohorts in spring, summer, and fall.
Brookings internships are open to students who are currently studying in undergraduate or graduate programs. However, PhD students are not eligible to apply for the Brookings Internship 2026.
Occasionally, recent graduates may also apply for selected internship positions. Applicants must have graduated within one year before the internship start date and meet the requirements mentioned in the specific internship posting.
The paid Brookings internship program welcomes individuals from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of experience.
This means that regardless of applicants’ academic major, field of study, or prior work experience, they have the opportunity to apply for the Brookings Institute paid research internships.
International students with a visa status sponsored by their college or university or those authorized to work in the United States can apply for Brookings Internships 2026. Applicants must have employment authorization and be in F-1 or J-1 student status with OPT or CPT if selected.
Remote interns must NOT work from the following states: Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Washington.
If applicants are working remotely, it is mandatory for them to be within the United States throughout the entire internship period.
In order to offer internship opportunities at Brookings to a wide range of students, individuals who were interns with the organization, either in the past or currently, are not eligible to apply for internships again.
