The Adoption Grant Program helps families complete the adoption process by providing financial assistance for the final fees due to licensed US adoption agencies or lawyers. The program supports domestic, international, and foster care adoptions, but does not cover embryo adoptions, step-parent adoptions, or contested adoptions.
Amount of Support:
Grants range from $1,000 to $30,000 per family, depending on financial need.
Couples or individuals, regardless of race, religion, gender, ethnicity, marital status, or sexual orientation.
US citizens or those residing in the US, including APO addresses.
Must have a completed, approved, and current home study.
Must not be pregnant, trying to conceive, or undergoing infertility treatments simultaneously with adoption plans.
Must demonstrate a genuine financial need for assistance, with a clear distinction between not wanting to pay adoption expenses and being unable to pay them.
Must show willingness to proceed with adoption with or without financial support from the program.
