Opportunity Details
The ICMAB Journalist in Residence 2026 program is an opportunity for professional journalists to spend 4–8 weeks inside the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB), engaging directly with scientists and research projects.
Honorarium: €4,000.
Workspace at ICMAB.
Access to facilities, events, and institutional communication channels.
Support for arranging interviews and meetings.
Must be based locally (Barcelona/Catalonia) or able to stay for the duration.
Professional journalists (staff or freelance) with proven experience.
Proficiency in Catalan, Spanish, and English (spoken and written).
Interest in science communication and ability to engage diverse audiences.

Three work samples (articles, reports, audio/video pieces).
Project proposal (1–2 pages).
Statement of languages.
Proof of affiliation/portfolio.
