JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowships for Research in Japan Requirements
- Be a citizen of a country with diplomatic relations with Japan (JSPS also treats Taiwanese and Palestinian researchers in the same manner)
- Hold a PhD obtained on or after 2 April 2021, or be expected to receive a PhD before the fellowship begins
- Be within six years of doctoral degree completion as of April 1, 2027
- Not have previously started a JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship under Standard (P) or Pathway to University Positions in Japan
- Not be a Japanese citizen
- Not hold permanent resident status in Japan
