About LIL - Operational Support Program
The Levine Impact Lab (LIL) 2027 Operational Support Program is a high-engagement initiative designed to help environmental nonprofit organizations improve their operational capacity while advancing strategic and financial priorities.Unlike traditional grants that only provide funding, this program combines financial support with long-term operational partnership. Over an 18-month period, participating organizations work closely with experienced advisors to strengthen internal systems, improve financial sustainability, and build capacity for long-term growth.The program is intended for nonprofits working at the intersection of environmental impact, climate solutions, sustainability, environmental justice, and social enterprise.

Selected organizations will receive:
- Up to $25,000 in grant funding over two years
- An 18-month operational partnership
- Tailored one-to-one strategic advising

LIL - Operational Support Program Requirements
Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Be a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
- Have a mission related to:
- Environmental justice
- Climate solutions
- Sustainability
- Have a current strategic plan
- Have an annual operating budget between $500,000 and $3.5 million
- Be beyond the startup stage while still in a growth phase
- Have an active and engaged Board of Directors
- Demonstrate the internal capacity to complete strategic operational projects
- Typically employ approximately 8–10 full-time staff
- Commit two senior leaders with decision-making authority throughout the program
Organizations rooted in and serving Indigenous communities within the United States or U.S.-affiliated territories are especially encouraged to apply.
Preferred Applicants
Preference is given to organizations that:
- Operate social enterprise models
- Generate earned revenue through products or services
- Demonstrate strong leadership commitment
- Have clear plans for organizational growth
- Are ready to implement strategic operational improvements
