About LIA Leipzig International Art Programme

The LIA-Leipzig International Art Programme would like to invite one artist from Nepal for a three months residency exchange in Leipzig Germany, November 2026 – January 2027. This programme, funded by the Federal Foreign Office, seeks to encourage artistic and societal engagement with the history and contemporary relevance of democracies for today’s societies. Leipzig having played a major role in the peaceful revolution and the Fall of the Wall in 1989 could be taken here as a departure point and useful resource to conduct a project.

LIA Leipzig International Art Programme Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be artists from Nepal
  • Have an active professional art practice
  • Demonstrate English proficiency (minimum B1 level)
  • Commit to the full residency duration

Application Date and Process

  • An expression of interest (maximum 500 words) outlining the project you wish to develop during the residency or the research you intend to pursue and what interests you would follow working at LIA.
  • Please specify how your project will engage with the theme of democracy-focusing on its history, role, impact, and relevance—and how it can be explored artistically within your artistic practice of your artistic biography. Additionally, describe how you aim to contribute to societal engagement through your work and how your experience during the residency can be applied upon your return to your home country.
  • A CV or biography detailing your years of professional art practice, exhibitions, and educational background.
  • Up to 6 images of your work or video/audio links.
