About Lloyd’s of London Foundation Grant Programme

If you’re working on innovative research in risk management or climate adaptation, you can now apply for funding through the Lloyd’s of London Foundation’s new grant programme.

They are offering financial support to researchers and organisations dedicated to advancing the understanding of risk and future recovery – driving positive action for a safer, more resilient world.

They aim to support research in:

• Risk understanding and management for specific communities, and the greater good of society both in the UK and globally, which are aligned to UN Sustainable Development Goals
• Climate adaptation and mitigation, an issue that has real synergy with risk-related research

Areas of research could include current and future climate and related humanitarian risks arising from a variety of trends, such as fire, flood, drought, changes to weather patterns and other natural disasters, both the UK and globally.

Benefits of Lloyd’s of London Foundation Grant Programme

• Annual Grant: Up to £100,000 for a one-year project or £50,000 per year for a two-year project, covering salaries and core costs (including indirect cost recovery up to 18%).

Lloyd’s of London Foundation Grant Programme Requirements

• Those focusing on practical outcomes in risk management and climate adaptation
• Independent researchers,
• academics,
• research institutions,
• public sector organisations,
• registered charities, and
• (re)insurance industry participants.

Grant Requirements

Grantees will submit a comprehensive report 12 months post-grant, detailing achievements, challenges, and financial spend. Presentations to the Lloyd’s of London Foundation may also be requested.

Projects will not be considered if they have:

• An immediate commercial outcome
• No clear research methodology
• Lack of academic excellence
• No engagement with non-academic stakeholders

Application Date and Process

Successful applicants must include a detailed communications plan, recognising the Lloyd's of London Foundation as the funder and promoting the research collaboratively.
