About Schwarzkopf Foundation Young European of the Year

The award grants 5,000 euros for a six-month internship with a member of the European Parliament or with another European institution. It is also possible to finance a recipient's own project that promotes European integration. The award winner will become part of a European network and the jury of the Schwarzkopf Europe Award.

It was awarded for the first time in 1996, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the foundation, in the presence of former Foreign Minister Klaus Kinkel.

Benefits of Schwarzkopf Foundation Young European of the Year

  • The award is endowed with €5,000. The Young European receives this endowment to finance either a personal project or an internship at a European or international organization. The project must align with the aims of the Schwarzkopf Foundation Young Europe and should promote European integration and solidarity.
  • The award winner will also become part of the jury for the Schwarzkopf Europe Award and benefit from being part of a European network. The Schwarzkopf Foundation will support the visibility of the awardee's work through events, its extensive European network, and public relations efforts.

Schwarzkopf Foundation Young European of the Year Requirements

To be eligible, an applicant:

  • has to be at least 18 to 26 years old,
  • has to be active in of the member states of the Council of Europe.

Application Date and Process

To submit a nomination, it is mandatory to provide information about the nominee. In particular, you must answer the following questions: Why should the nominated person become the next Young European of the Year, and why is their engagement important in their specific context?

References such as links to social media accounts (e.g., Instagram, TikTok), websites, or articles related to the nominee's work are welcome. Additionally, information about the person submitting the nomination is also required. Nominations will be accepted until May 31, 2025 (11:59 pm CET).
