The SUSI program for Secondary Educators provides a comprehensive look at American society, institutions, and history. Administered by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Embassy in Romania, this initiative aims to strengthen the quality of American Studies in secondary schools worldwide through rigorous academic exchange.
The U.S. Embassy seeks high-achieving, mid-career professionals committed to international education.
Target Roles:
Secondary school teachers (working with students aged 14–18).
School administrators and education specialists.
Teacher trainers and curriculum developers.
Textbook authors and Ministry of Education officials.
Mandatory Requirements:
English Proficiency: Must have professional-level English fluency for active participation in postgraduate seminars.
Career Stage: Mid-career professionals with a clear plan to implement American Studies in their home institutions.
Residency: Must be a resident of Romania. U.S. citizens and permanent residents (green card holders) are not eligible.
Commitment: Ability to attend the full five-week program without family or friends accompanying them.
Priority Candidates:
Those with little or no prior experience in the United States.
Those with a demonstrated plan to create or improve U.S.-focused courses or textbooks.
