About The Korea Society Spring Undergraduate Korea Study Abroad Travel Grant

The Korea Society created the Undergraduate Korea Study Abroad Travel Grant (launched in Fall 2023) to make studying in Korea more accessible for U.S. undergraduates. Because travel costs can be a major financial burden, the grant provides extra funding to help students who might otherwise struggle. Its goal is to enable more students to experience Korea firsthand, develop valuable soft skills for future careers, and strengthen U.S.–Korea understanding and cooperation.

• Travel grant of up to $2,000 USD awarded directly to the student.
• Upon returning to the U.S., an opportunity to participate in a panel discussion offered by the Society with other grantees to share insights on the value of studying abroad in the Republic of Korea.

The Korea Society Spring Undergraduate Korea Study Abroad Travel Grant Requirements

•  Be enrolled as an undergraduate student in an accredited U.S. college or university in good-standing.
• Be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident.
• Demonstrate a strong interest in Korea.
• Demonstrate financial need and a compelling explanation of how this “topping off” travel grant award is important to you personally.
• Intend to enroll (or be enrolled) in a full academic study abroad term in spring 2026 or a full academic year studying abroad in Korea.

Application Date and Process

1. Check Eligibility: Confirm U.S. citizenship/permanent residency, enrollment status, and study abroad plans.

2. Prepare Application Materials: Include academic records, financial need statement, and personal essay.

3. Submit Online: Complete the application form via the Korea Society website before the deadline.

4. Await Notification: Successful applicants will be informed and receive grant funds directly.

5. Participate in Panel Post-Return: Share insights and experiences after completing the study abroad program.
