Opportunity Details
The Toronto Arts Council’s Black Arts Annual Operating Funding Program is a grant program designed to provide operational funding to Black-led, Black-focused, and Black-serving arts organizations in Toronto.The goal is to help these organizations achieve long-term sustainability, artistic excellence, and community impact by supporting their ongoing programming, leadership, and financial resilience.
Grant Amounts: Varies; organizations requesting over $50,000 must submit audited financial statements or a review engagement
Eligibility for Strategic Initiatives: Organizations receiving grants above $25,000 can only apply to TAC’s strategic initiatives programs
Operational Support: Provides funding to help organizations sustain high-quality artistic programs, professional development, and community engagement
Organizations must meet the following criteria:
Non-profit, professional arts entities
Black-led, Black-focused, and Black-serving
Based in Toronto, with the majority of programming within the city
At least two years of consistent artistic activity
Viable administrative structure and professional leadership
Fair compensation for artists
Demonstrated diversified revenue sources for financial resilience
Governed by a majority Black-led board or equivalent body
Not Eligible:
Schools, tuition-based training programs, or curriculum-focused initiatives
Confirm eligibility with TAC Program Manager
Prepare financial documents demonstrating transparency and stability
Describe artistic programs, community engagement, and organizational impact
Submit the application for panel review and staff assessment
Receive feedback and, if successful, grant funding to support operational activities and long-term growth
