A traineeship of 6 months within the Political, Press and InformationSection of the EU Delegation to Kenya, starting in October 2025.
Main tasks:
- Actively contribute to the work of the Political, Press and Information Section at the EU Delegation to Kenya.
- Under the guidance of the political adviser, follow Kenyan political trends and contribute to political reporting and analysis.
- Contribute to the Delegation engagement with the Kenyan media
- Under the guidance of the Delegation Press and Information Officer, regularly update the Delegation website and social media accounts.
- Support the Political, Press and Information Section in the design and layout of information material.
- Assist with press reviews
- Meeting preparation and minutes taking
- Fulfilling other duties, as required.
Benefits of Traineeship for Young Graduates at the EU Delegation to Kenya
Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.
Traineeship for Young Graduates at the EU Delegation to Kenya Requirements
Qualifications or special requirements:
- Hold a university degree, and have a proven interest in the field of international relations, political sciences, security, trade relations, journalism/media or other related subjects, with a particular focus on African affairs;
- Have proven analytical, organizational, research and drafting skills;
- Be a team player and good communicator;
- Be hard working and see the internship as an opportunity for professional and personal development;
- General knowledge of the EU foreign policy priorities with a particular focus on Africa is a major advantage;
- Excellent command of written and spoken English;
Important information to read before applying
Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).
Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.
The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin.
Citizens from EU Member states:
- must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
- must hold a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable, based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
