This prestigious program aims to foster mutual understanding between the United States and Botswana by offering educators opportunities for professional development, collaboration, and cross-cultural exchange.
The grant covers program costs, including transportation, lodging, host institution fees and related expenses. While abroad, grantees will receive a maintenance allowance to cover the costs of living during the program. Grantees will receive professional development funds to support research or to cover the expenses of attending a conference or workshop related to their field of teaching expertise.
The program is open to primary and secondary-level teachers as well as teacher trainers in Botswana. To be eligible, applicants must:
Be Botswana citizens residing and working in Botswana.
Be directly involved in teaching or working with students for at least 50% of their time (e.g., classroom teachers, guidance counselors, library media specialists).
Have a minimum of three years of professional teaching experience, with at least five years of experience and leadership demonstrated being ideal.
Meet a minimum TOEFL score of 61 on the Internet-based test after the interview stage.
