About UNESCO Doctoral Internship

The UNESCO Doctoral Internship 2026 is a unique six-month research opportunity for University College London (UCL) PhD students to work on UNESCO’s Global Happy Schools Initiative at its headquarters in Paris, France. This fully supported internship allows doctoral researchers to contribute to cutting-edge projects focused on educational equity, peacebuilding, wellbeing, and inclusive education while gaining valuable international experience.

UNESCO’s Happy Schools Initiative, in partnership with UCL’s Grand Challenge of Inequalities, offers two internship streams: one on pedagogies for peace and the other on community learning hubs. Interns receive financial support for accommodation and travel, visa guidance from the French Embassy, and direct mentorship from UNESCO experts, making it a transformative step for doctoral students interested in global education policy and research.
