About UNU - Innovation Internship
The UNU Innovation Internship 2026-2027 in Japan offers a full-time on-site opportunity at the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS) in Tokyo. Interns support the UN HESI Action Group “Futures of Higher Education and AI,” helping coordinate events, produce knowledge products like podcasts and webinars, and connect higher-education networks. This six-month internship provides practical experience at the intersection of artificial intelligence, education, international development, and sustainability.
Benefits of UNU - Innovation Internship
- Monthly stipend to partially subsidize basic living costs
- The monthly amount will be determined for each duty station based on the stipend rates in effect and paid monthly. Online and part-time internship arrangements are prorated accordingly.
UNU - Innovation Internship Requirements
- University studies in AI, information technology, education, sustainable development, international development, or a related field
- Must be in the final year of undergraduate study, enrolled in a graduate degree programme, or within two years post-graduation from a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD programme
- Excellent written and oral English skills
- Working knowledge of another UN language, including Japanese, is an advantage
- UNU does not sponsor a working visa for this position
