About U.S. Embassy in Madagascar Fulbright Foreign Student Program

The U.S. Embassy in Madagascar and Comoros is pleased to offer awards for full-time study towards a master’s degree at a higher education institution in the United States for the 2027-2028 academic year. Fulbright funding is limited to TWO years maximum.  Awards are contingent upon approval by the Fulbright Scholarship Board (FSB), availability of funds, and successful academic placement.

  • The Fulbright Foreign Student Program operates in more than 160 countries worldwide. Approximately 4,000 foreign students receive Fulbright scholarships each year.

U.S. Embassy in Madagascar Fulbright Foreign Student Program Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be citizens or nationals of Madagascar or the Union of the Comoros
  • Currently reside in their home country
  • Hold a Maîtrise, M2, or M-1 equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree
  • Have a full four-year academic qualification
  • Demonstrate strong English proficiency
  • Meet minimum scores in TOEFL or IELTS
  • Meet minimum scores in GRE or GMAT (as applicable)

Application Date and Process

    • Applications must be completed and submitted online before midnight May 2, 2026.  The application form can be found at the application website.

The complete application must include:

    • Three letters of reference from university faculty who can attest to the quality of the candidate’s university study and academic potential.
    • Digital copies of official transcripts for ALL previous academic coursework AND in-progress academic coursework. If degrees and transcripts are not in English, official translations must be provided. Official translations must be done by either a certified translator or the institution which originally issued the documents.
    • Last standardized test scores (TOEFL/IELTS, GRE/GMAT) or at least Duolingo Test score if available.
